Jaron “Boots” Ennis Destroys Custio Clayton in Two
By: Sean Crose
Jaron “Boots” Ennis returned to the ring Saturday night to face Custio Clayton in the much-anticipated Jermell Charlo-Brian Castano rematch. Ennis, 24, a native of Philly, once a virtual knockout machine came in, having won all but two of his previous 28 fights by KO. Like Ennis, however, Canada’s Clayton entered the ring undefeated, boasting a 19-0-1 record. He has also shown some strength of his own, stopping 12 of his opponents in the distance. The Ennis-Clayton match is scheduled to last 12 rounds in the welterweight division.
Ennis started the first shot from his long shot. He then switched to Southpaw and started landing power shots. The second saw the Philadelphia boxer throw towards the body behind the stab. A thunderbolt put Clayton down before the round ended. Clayton bravely overcame the count, but the referee wisely stopped the game.
