Jamie Foxx: ‘I went to hell and back’ in emotional Instagram video after being hospitalized

Oscar-winning actor and singer Jamie Foxx said in an Instagram video on Friday night that he is recovering from an undisclosed medical condition.

“I went to hell and back, and my road to recovery has some potholes, but I’ll be back,” said Foxx, looking haggard and wearing a dark-collared knit shirt.

Foxx, 55, was hospitalized in April with a condition his daughter, Corinne Fox, at the time described as a “medical complication,” and Foxx did not disclose the nature of his condition in his first public comments since admission, according to the Associated Press.

“Thanks to billions… it’s been a long way but all the great prayers of everyone and God get me through,” Foxx wrote in his IG comments section.

“I just don’t want you to see me like that… I don’t want you to see me with my tubes running low and trying to figure out if I can make it through,” said Foxx, thanking his daughter, sister, God and the medical professionals for saving his life.

“I went through something that I thought I would never go through,” Foxx said.

“Sometimes, I burst into tears…because that was hard, man, I was sick…but now I’m out, so you’ll see me,” said Foxx. “I can work,” he added.

Besides receiving more than 1.3 million “likes” on his now viral post, thousands of supportive messages from fans and celebrities have been posted in the comments section.

“This video has warmed my soul…. Foxx you are the man needed. We love you and we will be with you forever. Nice to meet my brother and nice to see you in good spirits 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾,” wrote 44-year-old comedian Kevin Hart.

“Love you, Foxx!!! 🙌🏻,” Timberlake, 42, wrote while Dwayne Johnson, 51, known by her nickname “The Rock”, added, “I’ll give you a big hug when I see you again 🐻 ❤️”

It was a dramatic change of tone from a social media post by his daughter, Corrine, who first shared news of the Foxx emergency earlier this year.

“We would like to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Fortunately, thanks to quick action and great care, he is well on his way to recovery,” an April 12 Instagram post was later deleted. “We know how much he is loved and appreciate your prayers. The family requests privacy during this time.”

At the time of medical complications, Foxx was in Atlanta filming the movie back in action, a Netflix comedy starring Foxx and him annie costar Cameron Diaz (in her first movie role in almost 10 years). He is also preparing to shoot the sixth season of his Fox game show defeat Shazam (he was temporarily replaced by Nick Cannon).

Foxx’s recent “They Clone Tyrone” co-stars David Alan Grier, Teyonah Parris and Tamberla Perry told the Associated Press at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles on June 28 that they missed the star.

“Just praying that he gets better and taking whatever time it takes to heal,” Perry said.
