Jaguar Land Rover to launch Tata-based models next year; made in India, likely pure ICE

A new Jaguar Land Rover model will be built on a new platform developed by the British brand’s parent company Tata and will be launched next year, according to reports. CarTata Group Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran said the new platform developed by Tata will also underpin the ‘premium’ Tata car.

According to reports, both these upcoming models will be manufactured at a brand new plant in India and there are plans to export these models to markets outside India.

“We can bring the cost-effective attitude of Tata Motors with the design sophistication of [Jaguar Land Rover]. Then you get the benefits happening to both in two different ways and the volume increases, which justifies the investment in this platform,” Chandrasekaran said. Autocar India.

The Tata Group chairman has yet to confirm the brand or powertrains the new models will have, however, these upcoming models are not expected to be electrified as the Indian market still relies heavily on internal combustion engines. Car be observed

With a focus on India, these upcoming models are likely to be sold exclusively in Asian markets to build a solid business case before exports to other regions can be considered. Jaguar Land Rover’s Indian assembly operations currently take place in Pune, where Land Rover and Range Rover models are assembled from knock-down kits manufactured for the Indian market.
