Husqvarna Would you believe you’re looking at a prototype—but in OEM parlance, that just means the actual factory bike is camouflaged. This could be a production-ready Husqvarna Svartpilen 801, covered in camouflage stickers to look completely prototype-y.
The technical details are slim but there’s a lot we can glean by filling in the blanks. It’s probably safe to assume that, like the Svartpilens before it, the Svartpilen 801 is based on KTM, as the two companies exist under the same umbrella. Standard operating procedure within the Svartpilen model range is to add 11 to KTM’s model designation given the frame and engine; in this case the KTM 790 Duke.
That is confirmed by one of the few details that Husqvarna Have confirmed for Svartpilen 801—its output. The 105 horsepower produced by its parallel twin engine matches the power of the 790 Duke, although the Svartpilen is slightly heavier at 181 kg [399 lbs]. That could be due to its unique bodywork and equipment.
It’s also been confirmed that the Husqvarna Svartpilen 801 will be equipped with a full suite of electronic rider aids, including a quickshifter, but that’s all we know for sure. It also shares the WP suspension and open-lattice swingarm of the 790 Duke, while its bodywork follows a neo-classical style. flat road The theme is set by existing Svartpilen models.
We’re seeing a set of gorgeous 5-spoke wheels and an exhaust reminiscent of the first Svartpilen concept that was revealed many years ago. (Plus, it’s almost exactly what you imagine a Svartpilen 801 would look like.)
Husqvarna will make us wait another two weeks before fully unveiling the Svartpilen 801, but they’ve thrown us a bone in the form of a video of it being ridden in anger.
