Isuzu Motors introduces trucks using Honda’s hydrogen fuel cell technology
Isuzu Automobile Company Limited being exploited Honda Motor Company As for hydrogen fuel cell technology, it plans to use it in an upcoming heavy-duty truck in 2027.
Both companies signed an agreement in January 2020 on the basis of sharing research on fuel cell powertrains for heavy-duty trucks.
Companies are touting the undisclosed truck as a zero-emissions alternative that offers great load-carrying capacity and long distances between (fast) refueling stops.
Honda Motor Company and Isuzu Motors Limited are planning to begin prototype testing of their upcoming trucks on public roads by the end of March 2024.
Isuzu won’t be the first company to release a hydrogen-powered truck, with Hyundai gearing up to test its hydrogen fuel cell Xcient heavy trucks in Australia.
The extra-large truck is currently being driven in Switzerland and California.
It should be noted that governments along the east coast Australia is working together to create a renewable hydrogen refueling superhighway to support fuel cell trucks.
