Like most Zeiss lenses, the Otus 100mm f/1.4 is manual focus only and extremely expensive, but for that price you get the Zeiss experience: sharp images with almost no optics at all. falsehoods and beautifully out-of-focus backgrounds, all brought together by strong contrasts and beautiful colors. Undoubtedly, this is a lens designed and engineered with no compromises, hence the hefty price tag, but many Zeiss lens photographers have complete confidence in them. . I’ve had the good fortune to shoot with this lens a few times and can certainly prove that the images it produces are exceptional; Zeiss even goes as far as touting this lens as offering a “medium format look”.
