Instacart President Carolyn Everson said Friday that she will step down at the end of the year, just three months after joining the grocery delivery service company.
The latest shakeup in Instacart’s C-suite following the departure of its head of advertising, Seth Dallaire, who has left Walmart in October. The company hired some big tech executives from Facebook (now Meta), Amazon and Google. Although Instacart’s valuation has grown rapidly to nearly $40 billion this year, some of the new entrants, including Everson, are used to running much larger teams.
Everson has spent more than 10 years at Facebook as advertising director and CEO Fidji Simo, CEO of Instacart. Simo, former head of Facebook apps, took over from founder Apoorva Mehta this early year.
Everson is considered one of the most prominent women after Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, but she left the company after Marne Levine – not Everson – was promoted to chief sales officer last summer.
Simo and Everson told CNBC the decision was mutual.
“We believe it was the right decision for both the company and Carolyn based on our priorities and the role she is seeking at this point in her career,” Simo said in a statement. dad. “She will stay with us until the end of the year, and leave as a friend of the company.”
Everson oversees several departments at Instacart, including advertising, partnerships, policy, and legal.
