The street style truck is back with Ford cars‘s new Lobo pack for Maverick has been upgraded compact pickup truck. With a lowered suspension, unique front fascia, painted accents, and brand new 19-inch turbine-style wheels, this truck looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. Have inspiration from lowrider era Of the pickup trucks from the 1980s to the early 2000s, the Maverick Lobo was awesome street truck enthusiasts have been waiting for. The Maverick Lobo starts as an all-wheel-drive model with a turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine. It’s already a pretty sweet 238-horsepower little truck, and then Ford lowers the suspension by half an inch up front and 1.12 inches in the rear. With “tuned steering,” Ford says the Lobo drives more like a performance truck than the standard model, thanks in part to the torque-vectoring dual-clutch rear axle. Up front, you get better (and better-looking) brakes from a European-market Focus ST. Unlike standard Mavericks, the Lobo gets a transmission cooler, larger radiator, and fan from the tow package as standard. Ford says this truck is “inspired by drifting and autocross,” and by that I’d really like to borrow one for a track day.
The Lobo has been in the works since 2019 by Ford designer Josh Blundo and engineer Keith Daugherty. In 2021, Blundo’s vision saw the SEMA project car in collaboration with Tucci Hot Rods (below) debut. Ford has received a lot of attention. for Maverick from the concept that Lobo was greenlit. Lobo isn’t as ferocious as what Tucci built three years ago, but there’s definitely a family resemblance.
You can order the Maverick Lobo now, with deliveries starting in early 2025. There are two packages to choose from, standard and premium. The “premium” trim adds a heated steering wheel and seats, Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0 driver assistance suite, a 360-degree camera, a spray-in bedliner, a sunroof, and Ford’s very useful Pro Trailer Hitch Assist/Pro Trailer Backup Assist technology (if you’re towing).
Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but there’s reason to believe the Lobo will be priced similarly to last year’s Maverick Tremor, which was a similar cosmetic and suspension package but sold off-road instead of on the road. The Tremor package is a $2,995 add-on to XLT and Lariat models. The 2024 XLT starts at $28,015 after destination, while the Lariat starts at $36,555.
