Inoue is amazing, arguing with him was a mistake, says Donaire
Nonito Donaire admits that his fighting instincts made him better against Naoya Inoue.
Yesterday, the two heavyweights met again in Japan in the second season of Drama in Saitama three years on from their classic first match. Speaking on his YouTube channel Beyond the Ring after losing KO in the second round, the Filipino said that he and his team had a great game plan around jabs and saves, but he failed to execute.
“I got caught up in wanting to fight and that was my biggest weakness. I love to fight and it’s hard for me to change that overnight and that’s the biggest mistake I’ve made,” said Donaire, who suffered Saturday’s professional loss.
“I’m a fighter. That’s what I do, I fight. Many times we make the game plan, sometimes the old habits are hard to die. We haven’t been able to adjust because of the habits. old is to fight.”
The 39-year-old tennis player lost the WBC world title to Inoue who could now become the undisputed bantamweight champion if he fought and defeated the WBO champion Paul Butler.
“Inoue is a great boxer and I am delighted to share the ring with him, and he says the same,” said Donaire.
Getting burned on the first round and then just dropping the bell saved Donaire from further punishment. Inoue increased the pressure for a moment and deadly power beat his opponent again through a series of shots.
Donaire said: “Inoue has been of great help to me, and I will continue to fight.
“I’m glad the referee stopped the fight because I will always stand up because I don’t have any reluctance in me. No matter what I will never lie down. Inoue was amazing and got the best of me today. ”
