Inon has announced the release of a new product flash S-220. The S-220 boasts a guide number (GN) of 22 and an underwater beam angle of 140° (horizontal) × 100° (vertical). The strobe offers 12-step auto and S-TTL manual flash modes.
The S-220 is equipped with a “fly-eye” dome, which extends the light coverage. The strobe light features a large wheel dial for better control, while the luminescent control panel ensures excellent visibility even in low light. It operates on four AA batteries and has two O-rings to reduce the risk of flooding.
The S-220 is compatible with a wide range of bayonet-mounted filters: (i) Strobe Dome Filters S [SOFT], which increases the beam angle to 150° (horizontal) x 110° (vertical) while reducing the light intensity to –0.5EV; (ii) Blinking dome filter [ND], which reduces light intensity to -4EV for close-up photography; (iii) Flickering dome filter WILL [4900K], change the natural color temperature of 5500K to 4900K; and (iv) Strobe Dome Filter WILL [4600K]change it to 4600K.

A uniquely designed and precisely calculated flyeye dome lens for the light-emitting unit achieves an exceptional underwater beam angle of 140° horizontally × 100° vertically with minimal light distribution variation.
This wide beam angle perfectly fills the underwater coverage of the “UWL-95S XD” + “Dome Lens Unit III” horizontally 140° x vertical 100° (at 4:3 aspect ratio), allowing a single flash of the S-220 to illuminate the entire image.
Reliable “S-TTL Auto” and 12-step “Manual Flash”
Equipped with INON’s proven, reliable and highly accurate automatic “S-TTL Auto” flash control system and 12-step “Manual Flash” function with -0.5EV. increase.
The S-TTL Auto system can be used not only with the camera’s built-in flash, but also with original INON TTL converters equipped with INON housings, “X-2 R6 Mark II”, “X-2 R6” and “X-2 R5” for an even more precise TTL system. You will never miss a shooting opportunity.
Large dial wheel for greatly improved maneuverability and fluorescent panel for improved readability
Large control wheel and redesigned switches greatly improve operability. In addition, the rear panel is a white-based high-illumination phosphorescent material that ensures easy-to-read usability both during day and night diving.
Dual O-rings Dramatically reduce the risk of flooding
The battery case is waterproofed with a dual O-ring system, consisting of a yellow oil-filled O-ring and a black O-ring. This greatly reduces the risk of accidental flooding.
Front Adaper base for flexible lighting
Shade adapters such as “Z Adapter MV” and “Direct Base Ⅲ” are placed in the front close to the light-emitting surface, rather than at the back in previous models that do not allow fiber optic cable to interfere with the light’s flexibility.
Works on 4 Inexpensive AA Batteries
The S-220 strobe light is powered by four reasonably available AA batteries. Rechargeable nickel-metal hydride batteries such as “eneloop” and “eneloop pro” are especially recommended because they can be used repeatedly and reliably, and can withstand cold temperatures.
Various dome filters
The S-220 strobe is equipped with a bayonet mount for the use of various dome filters. The dome filter is packaged as “Strobe Dome Filter WILL” [SOFT]” increases strobe beam angle to 150° x vertical 110° while reducing light intensity to -0.5EV. and “Flashing Dome Filter [ND]” reduces light intensity to -4EV. Especially for macro photography. In addition, two optional strobe color filters are available: Strobe Dome S filter [4900K] and Strobe Dome Filter WILL [4600K]warms the 5500K native strobe color temperature to 4900K or 4600K.
“Quick Holder” for Easy, Fast Handling
Use the “Quick Stand S” or “Quick Stand M6W” with the “Quick Holder Z” mounted on the strobe adapter mount allowing one-touch fastening/removing of the Quick-Hold System. It is especially recommended to use “Quick Base M6W” because you can remove the LED when shooting still images.
