Ineos‘ SUV Grenadier looks like a mess of the classic Land Rover Defender, Mercedes G-Class and a little Land Cruiser line 79 are added to spice things up. In short, it’s amazing and I’ve been a bit obsessed with it since it came out a few years ago. Of course, while the traditional SUV body shape is certainly classic and something that most people in the United States enjoy, we also love our pickups.

For pickup truck lovers, off-road enthusiasts for whom a Jeep Gladiator is too big or too insignificant, Ineos introduces Quartermaster dual cab pickup, made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on Thursday. What’s even better is that Ineos plans to open the order book for it in 2024.

So in addition to the body, what has changed in the journey from Grenadier to Quartermaster? Based on what Ineos is saying so far, not so much. It will be built alongside the SUV at Ineos’ old factory in France, but it looks like the Grenadier’s wheelbase could be stretched a bit to allow more space for the bed. Speaking of beds, the neighborhood boss has a load capacity of 1,675 pounds. This makes it suitable for Toyota’s 2023 Tacoma, which has a maximum weight of 1,685 pounds.

Like the Grenadier, the Quartermaster will likely be paired with a turbocharged BMW inline-six powertrain. Also, like the Grenadier (and Gladiator, which will be its biggest competitors here), it will likely keep the front and rear axles solid as well as a host of off-road features.

In addition to the Quartermaster pickup, Ineos also introduced a hydrogen-powered demonstration vehicle. This uses BMW’s latest generation 400 volt hydrogen fuel cell technology that we’ve seen in iX5 Hydrogen SUV. Given how well other hydrogen models have performed here, we wouldn’t hold our breath on this one doing the pond jump, but it’s still great.
