In the latest Twitter Blue push, Elon Musk promises big money making opportunities for verified accounts – at a cost
Twitter has been trying to step up its subscription plan, Twitter Blue, in recent times. Earlier today, the Twitter Support site reported that only verified accounts will be able to send unlimited direct messages, while unverified accounts will face a daily limit. After stripping the privileges of DM, Elon Musk, the owner of the platform, has launched and promises a chance to make big money for anyone who buys a subscription. He even claims that verified accounts have a chance to win thousands of dollars!
Musk shared a tweet on Saturday, highlight the clause. “Many accounts on this platform can earn thousands of dollars per month from ad revenue sharing if they become verified subscribers,” he said. He added, sharing details of the Twitter Blue plan, “It takes 2 minutes to become a verified subscriber for $7/month (annual plan).”
Musk pushes users to buy Twitter Blue
Elon Musk also shared another motivation to join verified users, by providing one more way to earn money through Twitter. In a follow-up tweet, he said, “You will also soon get paid for ads that appear when others view your profile page, the payout will be doubled.”
Lately, Twitter has been in a bit of a slump, just like Musk himself disclosure “We are still having negative cash flow, due to a ~50% drop in ad revenue plus a heavy debt load.” The problem the company is facing at the moment is that Twitter Blue subscriptions haven’t really reached the level Musk initially believed, while advertisers keep pulling out due to scarce revenue.
Recently, several Twitter users have gone public and claimed that the platform has started paying them for the content they share. This new policy seems to be an added bonus on top of that.
One user reacted to the news and said: “Yes, I did well money on Twitter for the first time thanks to you. I’m grateful to you for this, Elon.”
Another highlighted the long review process and wrote on Twitter: “I greatly appreciate this kind of revenue for my family. But it’s annoying that I’ve been “reviewed” for so long because I meet all the requirements.
Another user humorously emphasized the underappreciated benefit of signing up for Twitter Blue, saying, “Not only can you make money, but you can also tick your green in public.”
