In connection with defeating Canada’s HOTY Fev Rover in Nassau


Related improved his record to two out of two since moving to trainer Brendan Walsh’s stable with a 1 3/4 length victory over the 2023 Canadian Horse of the Year Fev Self-Driving Car of the CA$179,850 Nassau Stakes (G2T) at Honeysuckle June 29.

Owned by Bradley Thoroughbreds, Belmar Racing and Breeding, Cambron Equine and Laura Leigh Stable, Implicated won the 2022 Chelsey Flower Stakes as a 2-year-old and the 2023 Pebbles Stakes (G3T) as a 3-year-old while with coach Chad Brown. Transferred to Walsh, she won a grade three race by 3 3/4 lengths on 12 May at Churchill Downs in her debut at the age of 4.

The Connect The mare appeared to have taken another step forward on Saturday in her maiden trip to Canada, where she took on Fev Rover on the home turf of trainee Mark Casse. With rider Declan Cannon leading her on a stalking ride between the pack, Implicated had the first run in the closing stages and accelerated through the middle of the race. Fev Rover, who had found the field 4-6lb, and Millie girl weBoth turned around the finish line and finished slowly behind the winner to complete the treble.

“Everything went well today,” Cannon said. “Brendan and his team did a great job. Been picking this race up for a while, and everything went well today.

“With such a long race, I just wanted to ride her confidently, as if she were the best horse in the race. And when I actually asked her for eighth place, she lost a little bit of time to get organized, but I think it was also just the ground, and I didn’t want to push her and make her lose control, and she finished strong.”

Bradley Thoroughbreds, the agent, purchased Implicated for $125,000 at the 2021 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale. She is the first foal out of the unraced mare Wysteria Story, a Grade 3 half-length winner. Kallio (Scat Daddy) plus prize winner Clear runway (Broken oath) and deposit Sallisaw (Exchange Rate). Implicated won five of nine starts and earned $413,360.

Connect, a son who won first prize of curled up located at Lane’s End near Versailles, Ky. His study fee in 2024 is $15,000.

Nassau is one of five graded bets on Saturday’s card.

Paramount Price dominated again, capturing Dominion Day

2023 King’s Plate winner Prince Paramount The 3-year-old male, last year’s Sovereign Prize winner, notched his first stakes win of his 4-year-old season when he took the lead in the CA$177,800 Dominion Day Stakes (G3).

Showcasing the speed and endurance he showed in last year’s King’s Plate, Chairman of the commune The gelding set a slow pace from the start under Patrick Husbands and was never threatened, clocking a time of 1:49.35 for 1 1/8 miles on Tapeta. He finished well clear of the line Stanley House and third prize Evil Django He paid $6.50 to win.

The dominant day was his second win in three starts in 2024. In the two previous races, he was third in the June 1 Eclipse Stakes (G2) at Woodbine and scored in the March 10 optional grant claim race at Gulfstream Park.

He raced for his filly Michael J. Langlois and Gary Barber, who had purchased an interest in Paramount Prince after he showed promise in his 2-year-old season.

Barber and Casse also had success when Filo Di Arianna Woodbine’s excellence continued by winning the CA$200,800 Highlander Stakes (G2T). Filo Di Arianna races for Barber, Wachtel Stable and Peter Deutsch.

The Highlander marked his first win since claiming three straight wins last summer at the Canadian track, with two of those being ranked team wins.

Under the guidance of Kazushi Kimura, Filo Di Arianna accelerated Step forward before taking command and pulling away to win by 2 1/4 lengths over a rally Witty . Progressively moving towards third, a front neck is favored ocean in fourth place.

The winner was an 8-year-old gelding Drosselmeyer raced six furlongs on the EP Taylor Turf track rated “good” in 1:09.75. He paid $6.30 to win.

Sabatini Aces in Selene Stakes

NK Racing and LNJ Foxwoods’ Sabatini kicked off the day’s betting action by scoring the second black-type win of her four-race career in the CA$150,900 Selene Stakes (G3) for 3-year-old mares. Her victory first Crevalle d’Oro And Witwatersrand brought her her first win in the tournament.

Sabatini ($11.40), daughter of Uncle Mo Trained by Josie Carroll, ran 1 1/16 miles on Tapeta in 1:43.07 under Sophia Vives.

Essex Serpent Adds to Total of Casse, Husband in Marine

The Knight Husband and Essex Snake used a bold mid-race move to take control of the C$172,200 Marine Stakes (G3) and then cruised to a comfortable win, giving Husbands his second win of the tournament and the third for trainer Casse.

“I knew I was riding the best horse,” said Essex Serpent’s husband. “Sid (Attard)’s horse (Babbo) is a fast horse and my horse was sprinting and I could see what Sid’s jockey was doing and then at the five-eighths post I could see him backing up and I said, ‘Hey I’m riding a jag.’”

Jockey Patrick Husbands and Essex Serpent win the Marine Stakes

Owned by Manfred and Penny Conrad, the 3-year-old dog Honor code The gelding won for the second time in three lifetime starts. His only loss was a second-place finish in the Queenston Stakes in his second start.

Bred in Ontario by Conrad Farms, the Essex Serpent did not win Medallion of Oro mare Eileen’s Girl, half-sister to Summer Stakes (G2T) winner Wilderness His final time for the 1 1/16 mile course on the Tapeta was 1:43.03.

Essex Serpent paid $13.70 to win. Guest performance took second place after making a threatening move at the far turn. Midnight mascot run third.
