‘I’m officially retired’ Ryan Garcia says he calls it a career On the eve of Nysac’s verdict.

Ryan Garcia, the most controversial man in boxing, has announced his retirement from the boxing business. “I am officially retired,” the famous Californian announced on social media Wednesday night. The fact that Garcia made such a statement before a major ruling from the New York State Athletic Commission surprised some. After all, Garcia tested positive for the performance-enhancing drug ostarine in his system both before and after his April 20 upset win over Devin Haney in Brooklyn. The fact that the Commission is about to suspend Garcia, or even strip him of his win over Haney, could be related to Garcia’s decision to quit professional boxing.

Again, will Garcia really retire? This man is forever using social media to make one bold statement after another. Garcia’s random, sometimes inexplicable behavior has left many people feeling there was something deeply wrong with the hard-hitting fighter’s emotional state. And, although only Garcia and those closest to him know what the truth really is, it’s hard for many people not to notice the man’s public and often baffling antics This. Garcia’s recent arrest in Beverley Hills for vandalism hasn’t eased any worries.

Before bluntly announcing his retirement on Thursday, Garcia took to social media, seemingly to vent his anger. “Mom has cancer – I’m being sued – My supplements are ruined – Divorced – Being talked about online for YEARS -Devin asked to take away my victory – I’m affected by everything – I’m STILL LOVE GOD, HE IS ALL.” Garcia later said that “While I’m going through a really difficult time in my life, I’m human, I’m not God, I’m going to make mistakes.” Whatever one may say about Garcia, the man is clearly in trouble.

While he remains one of the sweetest — and even effective — practitioners of the science, Garcia is now in the spotlight for his life outside the ring. In this, he resembles Mike Tyson, who dominated both the boxing ring and the gossip pages during his heyday in the 80s and 90s. One can only hope that Garcia will have a smooth ride than Tyson before finding his footing years after his career ended. Boxing is a dangerous enough sport without the world needing to see fighters’ lives torn apart before their eyes.
