Ikelite Announces First Case for the Canon EOS R5 Mark II

Ikelite revealed its home give Canon EOS R5 Mark II—the first body for the Japanese company’s second-generation professional full-frame mirrorless camera. Canon has overhauled the four-year-old R5: the R5II features a new stacked, back-illuminated 45-megapixel sensor with a much faster readout speed, allowing the camera to shoot full-resolution RAW images (with AF) at 30fps using an electronic shutter with less rolling shutter than before. The R5II can also now shoot 8K/60p RAW video internally.

The Ikelite housing is intended to allow hybrid shooters to get the most out of the R5 Mark II. Features include an ABS-PC body with a transparent back, a Dry Lock (DL) port system, and oversized shutter release and autofocus levers. The Ikelite baffle allows you to trigger a manual flash right out of the box, and you have the option to add DL5 DS Link TTL Converter for TTL auto flash exposure with instant manual/TTL switching. You can also add Ikelite USB charging and data transfer compartmentso you never have to take the camera out of the case.

Check before diving

There’s no better assurance than being able to see your camera and O-ring through the back of the case. Our signature open-groove design hangs the O-ring in a natural position behind it, making it easier to maintain and more reliable than forcing the O-ring into a groove. Once the case is closed, you can see the O-ring forming a strong, waterproof seal.

We recommend using a pump with a gauge to create a vacuum on the housing and check for leaks before filling with water.

Construction

Our specially designed ABS-PC blend housing is highly durable yet significantly lighter than aluminum. The light color helps keep your camera cooler when shooting in warm, sunny environments.

Lens support

Ikelite lens ports are the lightest on the market yet still strong and able to withstand big waves.

We support a wide range of lenses. Most popular zoom lenses and select focus rings can be operated using simple gears that put adjustments right at your fingertips. The zoom and focus gears vary depending on the type of lens you are using.

Wi-Fi Switch

Use the camera’s built-in Wi-Fi to download photos to another device without removing the camera from its housing. The Wi-Fi feature can only be used on the water within close range of the connected device.

Compatibility

Unless otherwise noted, this housing is not suitable for use with additional handles, battery grips, eyepieces, LCD covers or other accessories.

The differences in lens and control placement prevent other camera models from being used or adapted for this case. We are not aware of any other models that can be used or adapted for this case.
