“I don’t think he’s ready.” Maciej Sulecki thinks he has enough experience to beat Diego Pacheco

“We’re back in the States,” super promoter Eddie Hearn said on Thursday, “to continue an incredible journey with DAZN this weekend to see if Diego Pacheco can continue to attack his weight class on a great night of boxing.” Hearn has high regard for Pacheco, an emerging super middleweight with a bright future in mind. But first, Pacheco will have to beat Maciej Sulecki at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday night.

“We have a really special place in Los Angeles this Saturday,” Hearn continued, “and the atmosphere is going to be fantastic. Diego Pacheco could be the future of the division in my opinion but it will be a very tough test for Sulecki on Saturday, who will headline a great fight at the ‘War Grounds’. Don’t miss this Saturday as we continue to build an unbeatable schedule to close out the year.”

Although Pacheco has been the focus of attention this week, the little-known Sulecki appears to be in a good place inside ahead of meeting Pacheco in the ring. “Thank you to everyone here and thank you to everyone who gave me the opportunity and my team for giving me a great boxing training camp,” Sulecki said. “I know I’m the best challenge for Pacheco, I know he has time but now is not his time. Maybe he will be a world champion, he has talent, but I know now is my time. I’m ready for him and I hope he’s ready for me, I know it’s going to be a great fight.”

Sulecki’s coach, Aureliano Sosa, echoed his fighter’s confidence. “It’s been a great training camp,” he said, “we feel very confident. We’ve known Diego for a long time, a great guy. Coach Benavidez is great. I have nothing bad to say about them. They’re great coaches and great fighters, but we’re still here to have a great fight. I know Pacheco is ready and all that, so everyone is definitely going to see a great fight on August 31. You’re going to see war and you’re going to suffer war.”

Sosa said that, as far as he was concerned, his fighter had plenty of experience to bring to the fight this weekend. “Sulecki has been through a lot of fights, tough, tough fights where he survived all 12 rounds,” he said. “There have been great fights and I believe this will be Diego’s biggest test.” But is Pacheco up to that challenge? Sulecki certainly doesn’t think so.

“I know I haven’t been in a big boxing fight in a while, but I’m going to take him into deep water and drown him. I don’t think he’s ready,” Sulecki said.
