This is Hyundai Seven Concept, and it is meant to act as a preview for a The upcoming electric SUV of the Ioniq brand. It leans more towards the concept side of the spectrum than a production car, but hopefully the SUV will eventually take design cues from the Seven Concept.
Since design can be the biggest differentiator from concept, we’ll start there. Compare to Ioniq 5 was inevitable, as “Parametric Pixel” lights dominate both the front and rear as key design elements. The narrow full-width band is enhanced by the nicely proportioned lower pixel headlights, and the continuation of the “pixel” design into the near-front grille is also appealing. Hyundai says a streamlined roof and an extra-long wheelbase are glaring differences from its internal combustion engine offerings, but still can’t mistake this for a full-size SUV. rough. Solid fenders, sure you know that Hyundai wants this car to at least suggest off-road capability.
Despite the front end, the Seven Concept stands out most from the rear. The completely giant rear window dominates the entire rear, as the only other design elements are the lights and the narrow lower bumper with the words “Seven” on it. There’s a body strip going through the glass with the Hyundai logo on it, and you’ll notice a slightly different logo than the one on today’s new Hyundai models. It’s a white background with a body colour Logos.
As for what powers this concept, Hyundai says the whole thing is based on Its E-GMP platform. Target range is more than 300 miles cited, but Hyundai isn’t more specific than that. We also don’t know how much power it produces. However, Hyundai does specify that charging at a 350 kilowatt charger will take it from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes.
Moving to the interior is where Seven Concept takes a deeper trip into Concept Land. You’ll find that the interior resembles a living room with swivel lounge chairs and a curved bench in the back. You get in via the post-free driver’s door, so getting in and out is super easy, and the flat floor makes a one-time move inside a lot easier.
The designers imagined the interior as something we would use when self-driving car it’s all rage… someday. The “joystick” (steering gear) can be retracted when not needed. It features home appliances like mini-fridges and theoretical “shoe care” compartments to make your shoes smell better.
And in case you’re worried that all the barefoot legroom in the cabin will smell, Hyundai is happy to explain that the Seven Concept has “class-leading hygiene”. It is equipped with both Sanitary Air Flow System and UVC Sterilization. The former is an aircraft-inspired airflow management system that draws air through air intakes mounted on roof rails, then exhausts it to an outside vent using the rear wheel. It can isolate the air flow between front and rear occupants and reduce air cross-contamination between people in different parts of the car. Theoretically, motorists wouldn’t have to smell their stinky kids in the back. Yay?
For UVC sterilization, it activates as soon as you get out of the car. The UVC sterilization lamp activates and cleans the entire space of bacteria and viruses.
We’re still not sure when it will arrive, but a production car based on this Seven Concept is expected in 2024. When it is revealed, it will likely be called Ioniq 7.
