How to keep your dog happy when you work from home

Over the past few years, working from home has become a normal part of life. One of the biggest benefits of this way of working is that you can be with your pet all day, but this can come with a small downside – your pet may expect your attention. you all day. To help you get some work done, we’ve put together a list of five ways to keep your dog entertained during work.

Split meals

Instead of having one meal in the morning and another in the evening, divide your puppy’s meals evenly throughout the day. To avoid having to wake up several times a day to feed them, you can use automatic feeding trays such as the following:

  • PetSafe 5 Meal Dispenser: With this bowl, one serving can be eaten as you make it, but you can schedule 4 more servings at different times of the day.
  • WOPET 6L . Automatic Feeder: This bowl lets you use your smartphone to schedule 15 meals at a time, so you can order it for a few days in a row.

In addition to feeding your puppy several small meals throughout the day, you can make these meals even more special by mixing up the recipe you give each day – check out their entire line of Freshpet recipes for dogs I here.

Set up a scavenger hunt around your house

Interactive toys and games are great at getting your dog’s attention, but often require a lot of time and energy to set up and use. That’s what makes a scavenger hunt such a great option – you just set it up and your pet takes care of the rest!

Simply choose your puppy’s favorite toy and some Fresh dog food and hide them around your house. Make sure the difficulty levels are intertwined, with some items being easy to find and some being quite hard. This allows your pet to get into the game quickly by having an easy find number early on and keeps them motivated to seek out harder-to-find rewards. You can set this up a few times a day, using different hiding spots around the house to avoid it becoming too repetitive.

Prepare some long-lasting frozen treats

In between scavengers hunts, you can also give your puppy some toys that keep them busy – independently – in the long run. During the hot summer months, we recommend going on the frozen trail to keep your pets hydrated as they play.

  • Homemade frozen fruit and vegetable snacks: You can use pet-safe silicone trays to create cold treats in a variety of flavors. Divide their favorite pet-safe snacks, such as carrots, green beans, pumpkin, blueberries, peas or watermelon evenly, divide evenly into molds, add some water, and place in the compartment ice until completely frozen. You can take this to the next level by adding small portions of your Freshpet capsule recipe! But please note that if you freeze frequently Fresh recipes You may see slight changes in color and texture as they defrost, but this will not change the nutritional value or taste of our meals.
  • Frozen Kong: You can take your Kong games to the next level by freezing them. All you need to do is line the inside with peanut butter or a thin layer favorite scroll, then add to the mix the fresh dog food or some of the pet-safe foods we listed above. After the Kong is stuffed, you can put it in the freezer and leave it there until your pet dog needs entertainment.

With both of these frozen treats, you’ll want to give them to your puppy while they’re sitting on a large blanket or towel to absorb the moisture.

Consider adopting or adopting another pet

If you’re considering adding a new member to your pack, it can also have the added benefit of keeping your dog entertained during work hours and more! Dogs with indoor playmates are less likely to rely on their pet parents for entertainment because they have a four-legged friend ready to play with them. If you’re not ready to bring home a new pet, consider adopting one. This is a great way to help a pet in need as well as to see if having another pet in the house keeps your pet busy while you work.

Sign up for doggy daycare

If you think your dog needs some serious 1:1 attention that you can’t provide during your workday, consider enrolling them in a dog daycare. This is a great option because you can better focus on work knowing that your dog will be having a good time playing around with other four-legged friends for hours on end. You could even try splitting daycare services with a neighbor who has a friendly dog. This way, you know that every day you will be able to focus without interruption.

When choosing a dog daycare, ask the same questions when looking for a babysitter so you know you’re choosing Top!
