Perhaps a bit odd is the integration between Apple Music and the Photos app. When you open the Photos app and go to For you , you’ll be greeted with a new version of Memories — which automatically creates a small clip of specific trips or events and automatically selects a related song from Apple Music (but only if you have music service subscription). You can customize movies as you watch them by changing the speed, switching songs, changing filters, or swapping images. It’s not far off from the Google Photos feature introduced in 2018, but Apple gives you much more control with the music integration here.
Safari is now easier to use with one hand. The URL bar is now at the bottom and it hides as you scroll to maximize screen real estate. You’ll find Safari looks more like the look and feel on your macOS or iPad than it does on the new tab page — featuring your favorite sites, reading lists, and content shared with you. You can swipe through tabs easily and group them together. And finally, for the first time, the Safari extension is available in iOS. These are accessed through the App Store, although it is up to the app developer.
SharePlay
With SharePlay, you’ll be able to share your movies, music, Fitness + workouts, and screen with anyone you’re FaceTiming with. Want to sync a new album with your friends at the same time? You can bring tunes from Apple Music. Maybe you want to watch a movie with your long distance partner while video chatting? Easy. You can AirPlay movies to TV at the same time to watch on the big screen. You can read more about how to use SharePlay in our guide.
Apple says any developer with a content-streaming app can add support, and services like Disney+, HBOMax, ESPN+ and TikTok are ready. The implementation provides a lot of control to the developer. For example, if both users of a video call are trying to stream a movie on Disney+, Disney might allow the other user to sign up for a free trial, allowing a free movie to stream through SharePlay for a month to anyone, or block access completely if no party has an account. It’s the developer’s choice.
Improved map
The improved version of Apple Maps that the company introduced in 2020 has launched in four new countries: Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Australia. Apple’s map data gets even more granular in iOS 15. You’ll find more detailed street level information in business districts, elevation information in cities, and custom designs. adapted for landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge. When driving, Maps now shows highway intersections in 3D so you have a better idea of exactly which lane you need to take. With CarPlay, you can also view details like medians, turn lanes, taxi lanes, bike lanes, and pedestrian crossings. Features that work in Supported Citiesincluding New York, Philadelphia, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area and Washington, DC.
If you take public transport, Maps will tell you when to get off, and if you don’t know which way to take when getting off the bus or outside a subway station, just point your phone at buildings in front of you to have Apple augmented reality directions. It is similar to the AR Live View in Google Maps.
Shared with you
Selecting items your friends share in Messages is now under a new “Shared with friends” section in certain apps. For example, if someone shares some photos of a trip you’ve been on, those images will be under Shared with new friends in the Photos app. If you were sent an article, you can find it under Shared with you in Apple News. The idea is to give you another chance to see what your friends and family members have sent, in case you haven’t. Didn’t have time to see it sooner. Shared With You sections are available in Apple Photos, News, Podcasts, Safari, TV, and Music.
Spark
When you use Spotlight, the search bar that pops up when you swipe down on the home screen, you’ll notice a new design with more details when you search for contacts, celebrities, and movies. Alternatively, you can search your photos through it and use it to install new apps. You can now also access it right from the lock screen, just by swiping down on the screen.
Health apps
With Apple’s Health Apps, you can now share your health data with family members or caregivers. That way, they can easily monitor the indicators and get notified of any unusual trends over time. There’s also a new Walking Stability index that regularly analyzes your fall risk.
You can also store Covid-19 test results and vaccination records in the app. If a specific medical site or vaccine provider doesn’t support this feature, you can download the profile using a QR code or browser and store it in the Health app for access at any time. if you Yes successfully added your immunization record, the app can now generate immunization cards in the Wallet app, so you can easily flash the card before entering businesses or restaurants.
App privacy report
Available by going to Settings > Security > Recent Apps Activity, which shows which apps have accessed your camera, microphone, location, and photos over a seven-day period. iCloud +
This new service is available to anyone who has signed up for iCloud with no price change (you may have received an email about it last September). It adds the ability for you to create a write-once email when you sign up for a web service; expanded HomeKit Secure Video support; and add a feature called iCloud Private Relay (currently in beta with a final version coming later), which encrypts all internet traffic leaving your device so no one can view your data, like a virtual private network.
Secure communication in iMessage
To protect children from viewing and sharing nude photos, Apple added iMessage safety feature. If an iPhone child receives a pornographic photo on iMessage, the photo will be blurred and a warning will appear. They will also get a pop-up with options including blocking the contact, leaving the chat, and accessing additional secure resources online. Anyone 13 or younger will also be prompted to text a parent or guardian.
