How long does Zelda: Breath Of The Wild take to beat, really?

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild turns 5 this week, and to celebrate the big occasion, the Twitter account for How Long To Beat – a website that tells you how long it takes on average to complete a match – reminded everyone of the number BOTW statistics:

Now, 50 hours sounds like a good deal to me. I seriously doubt that many players blew up the whole thing and ran straight to Ganon’s final battle, even though you totally maybe do it in the first place (it will take you about half an hour if you run it fast and you know, you really good) – so this average time spans between extremely confident people who have spent hours wandering around and those who, like me, just take things at their own pace.

I’m not sure how long it took me to “complete” the game, because I did a lot of side quests, and I founded Tarrey Town, and I helped match the pairs, and none of it really involved. to the main plot. But boy, do people bother in replies to this tweet!

“50 hours to beat?” speak Sports Guy the Magnificent. “Sure. You can pass the game if you want, but 188 to get 120 shrines, 900 korok seeds, fill in the recap, defeat 4 divine beasts and defeat Ganon? I’m old 190+.” Dan Thiell keep it simple: “Imagine just playing Breath of the Wild for 50 hours”, Rolando Ed Claudio ripostes, “Imagine playing it for more, literally an empty world with nothing to do”. Oh my God!

"Master Sword isn't even as pretty as a sword, why doesn't Link have a Master Katana"
“Master Sword isn’t even as beautiful as a sword, why doesn’t Link have a Master Katana”

But this begs the question: When do you count a game as “beaten”? Is it when you beat Ganon? Does when you get it 100% done, does this (in BOTW) require the effort of finding 900 little idiots? Or – as was my case – do everything except the Korok seed and the final boss battle? Is 50 hours long enough to appreciate everything this game has to offer? Is it important??

I wrote a post about when a game “ends”. (Oh my! My gamer credit, all gone! Parents, extremely disappointed!)

So needless to say, I won’t repeat myself. This is on you now! Here are some polls…

Finish?

Let us know what you think of the “end” of the game in the comments, but IF ANYONE HAS MY OPINION ABOUT NOT HIT GANON, I WILL CRY.
