How is the Genesis Electrified GV70 different from the regular GV70

Duh, right? One side, Genesis Electrification GV70 what it says: an electrified version of the brand’s compact luxury SUV. Trouble is, the word “electrification” is extremely broad. Volvo caused a stir when it announced that their entire product line would be “electrified”, which prompted countless lazy online stores to report that Volvo would only sell Electric Car now. If they read a little deeper into the press release, they’ll discover that Volvo just updated the basic internal combustion engine’s electrical systems to make them lighter. crossbred. Definitely not electric, but technically “electrified”.

OK, so that’s not what’s happening here. GV70 is not only electric, but also 100% electric and has no gas engine. It will have a the battery and an engine powering the rear wheels and/or all four wheels. Unfortunately, that’s the range of specifications available at this time – we should know more in December when the Electrified GV70 starts rolling off the production line in South Korea. In the meantime, we got a chance to see the Electrified GV70 first hand ahead of its North American launch at Los Angeles Auto Show in a few weeks.

In the video above, I go over all the visual changes. Honestly, it’s really “blink and you’ll miss it”. Like Electrification G80, Genesis is definitely going the stealthy route here. The fully enclosed grille and the most successful concealed charging port in the industry. The bottom dam is also different from both the 2.5T and 3.5T models (which I didn’t mention in the video). The wheels are unique to the Electrified GV70 and since there’s no exhaust, the lower rear bumper is different. The interior is added a Boost button to the steering wheel (as in GV60, it adds 10 seconds of additional power), although the wheel is different from what you get in other GV70s. The tool design is the same but the information shared is different, while the interior in Glacier white is unique color with brass details exclusive to Electrified GV70.

Again, we’ll know more in a month or so. Until then, watch the video above and our reading regular Genesis GV70 review here on Autoblog.
