The Honda City upgraded version made its official debut in Thailand, where it continues to be offered in five variants. However, the lineup has been revised, with the previous S variant being dropped in favor of the new e:HEV SV option.

Therefore, the range now starts with the V priced at 629,000 baht (RM83,909), followed by the SV at 679,000 baht (RM90,579), the RS at 749,000 baht (RM99,917), the e:HEV SV at 769,000 baht (RM102,555) and e:HEV RS at 839,000 baht (RM111,921).

There are no changes to the powertrain, as the V, SV and RS continue to feature the 1.0-litre, turbocharged, 3-cylinder petrol engine that makes 122 PS (121 hp or 90 kW). ) at 5,500 rpm and 173 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 4,500 rpm. The VTEC Turbo unit drives the front wheels through a CVT transmission as before.

Meanwhile, the e:HEV variants retain Honda’s intelligent multi-mode drive (i-MMD) hybrid system, which helps the front wheels be driven by an electric motor with a capacity of 109 PS (107 PS). hp or 80 kW) and 253 Nm of torque. The petrol engine can clutch through a single-speed transmission (known as an E-CVT) to provide direct drive at higher speeds where it is most efficient.

While the mechanicals haven’t changed, the City’s styling has been updated with a slimmer chrome bar at the front, which necessitates a new insert design for the grille and lower air intakes. The multi-bar design is applicable to all non-RS variants, while the RS models have a honeycomb style instead. RS models also come with sliding trim, fog lights and other lower fenders, the last of which has a sportier look and is visually connected to the fog lamp housings via a black border.

Other modifications include a new rear bumper, with RS models featuring a prominent diffuser-like unit to go along with a black trunk lid spoiler – this color is also applied to the shark fin antenna and bumpers. sideview mirror.

Moving inside, City retains the same dashboard design as before, with the notable change being the new 4.2-inch TFT multi-information display for VTEC Turbo variants. Meanwhile, RS models get combination and synthetic leather instead of leather and suede, while SV models now get dark red synthetic leather trim on the center console and door panels to match. Switching to the hybrid version, the e:HEV SV is similar to the turbo-powered SV, albeit with variant-specific details such as 16-inch alloy wheels, rear vents, and parking brake. electronics (with automatic brake hold), a 7-inch display in the instrument cluster and two USB-C ports in the rear.

Also, one of the most important upgrades that is part of this upgrade is the addition of Honda Sensing to every City variant in Thailand – it was previously only offered with the e:HEV upgrade. RS.

These systems include Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Lane Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW), Automatic High Beams (AHB) and Leading Vehicle Departure Notification System (LCDN). Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is also part of the range, and on e:HEV variants it has been enhanced with low-speed tracking.

Standard equipment of Honda Sensing on City is also to be expected in Malaysia if we refer to an unofficial specification sheet of the upgraded car that has been circulating on social networks. The said spec sheet also claims the petrol-only V Sensing will be simply renamed RS and all non-hybrid variants will have rear disc brakes instead of drums.

After Thailand, it is fair to say that Malaysia will be the next country to welcome City’s upgrade. Camouflage units have been spotted here. There is no official word from Honda Malaysia yet, but based on the Thai specs, do you expect us to get some of these changes?
