The update for the 1/4 liter sports car market in Malaysia is 2024 Honda CBR250RR, priced at RM27,999, up from RM25,999 previously. The CBR250RR gets a modest 1.34 horsepower upgrade thanks to an increased compression ratio, larger inlet throat diameter, optimized piston and oil ring tensions, and revised valve timing and lift .
The increase in compression ratio from 12.1:1 to 12.5:1 was achieved through a reduction in combustion volume from 7.55 cc to 7.0 cc. The inlet port throat diameter has a similar variation from 21.4 mm to 21.6 mm, which helps smooth out the engine’s response.
This gives the CBR250RR’s 249 cc two-cylinder engine a capacity of 41.57 horsepower at 13,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 25 Nm at 11,000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the ground through a 6-speed gearbox equipped with a slipper clutch and quick-shift support, driving the rear wheel by chain.
Standard equipment is Showa Separate Function Fork – Big Piston (SFF-BP) with 37 mm diameter inverted fork legs. The rear of the CBR250RR is supported by a single shock absorber, with preload adjustable.
Braking is done by single hydraulic discs front and rear, equipped with dual-channel ABS as standard. CBR250RR rolls on 17-inch wheels, covered with 110/70 and 1450/70 rubber at the front and rear respectively.
The new body panels on the CBR250RR are inspired by the CBR1000RR-R superbike, with a forward-leaning riding position and aggressive sharp edges. Inside the cockpit, an LCD screen displays all necessary information while LED lighting is used throughout.
With a seat height of 780 mm, the CBR250RR carries a 14.5 liter fuel tank and a total weight of 189 kg. Color options for the CBR250RR in Malaysia are Mat Zodiac Blue metallic with black wheels and Honda Tricolor with yellow wheels.
