Homeless man saves every animal in the shelter

Often, animals can have a hard time fending off on their own. They rely on their people to keep them safe. But for dogs with shelter, life can be even more difficult without a family watching over them 24/7.

Fortunately, there are still many people who risk their lives for any animal in danger. One homeless man made it clear as he rushed into the open flames to save the lives of innocent sheltering dogs and cats. He knows how much a dog can change your life, so he knows exactly what to do in that moment.

Facing the fire

Keith Walker is very close to the staff at W-Under in Atlanta, Georgia. They leave their Pit Bull named Bravo there nightly and they even help provide dog food for the duo. Walker and Bravo are extremely close, so despite being homeless, Walker still everything he can to support his fluffy friend.

But when Walker approached the shelter one day, he found it was on fire. He was terrified, but he knew he had to do the right thing.

“I’m nervous as hell, I won’t lie. I was really scared to go in there with all that smoke. But God put me there to save those animals,” Walker said. “If you love a dog, you can love anyone in the world. My dog is my best friend, and I wouldn’t be here without him, so I know I have to save all the other dogs.”

Walker ran into the burning building and rescued all the animals, including six dogs and ten cats. The fire department later announced that it was an electrical fire. The entire building was not destroyed, but it was uninhabitable.

Presenting a true hero

Thankfully, the shelter was in the process of moving to a new location when the fire struck. The new building isn’t quite ready for furry guests yet, but it’s safer than the old, damaged structure. The staff and volunteers quickly found a way to bring all the animals into the new space.

Before long, people were calling Walker a hero and a “guardian angel”. Thanks to him, the lives of many dogs and cats have been saved. The shelter promises to continue to support him and Bravo in any way they can, but they wish they could help more. They can’t provide him with a place to live and a full-time job, which may be what he needs most.

But the community refused to let Walker go on with his life without proper support. Soon after, people collected donations to share their gratitude to the kind man. They raised about $35,000 and it was more than expected. Hopefully it will be enough for Walker and Bravo to have a fresh start to life.

If you are interested in helping this kind hero, please donate to GoFundMe . Page. There is also a second GoFundMe . Campaign on site to help the shelter replace all donations and items lost in the fire.
