Greece just keeps getting better – especially for Hilton Honors loyalists wanting to visit Athens.
Just announced, the former Hilton Athens will transform into a mixed-use destination called The Ilisian, including the Conrad Athens hotel, plus Conrad and Waldorf Astoria branded residences along with a variety of restaurants, bars, etc
Found in the Ilisia neighborhood of Athens, east of major tourist attractions such as the Acropolis, The Ilisian “seeks to combine contemporary international trends with the city’s heritage, creating a meeting place for Athenian residents and visitors alike,” according to a statement from Ionian Hotel Enterprises.
Before undergoing its current transformation, this historic building used to house the Hilton Athens hotel, which established Greece as an international high-end tourist area. When it opened in 1963, first lady Jacqueline Kennedy was present at the opening party.

Now, 61 years later, the building is still owned by the Hilton family, focusing on the company’s luxury brands. Conrad Athens will have 278 rooms and suites as well as meeting and event space. In addition, 55 serviced apartments will be branded Conrad Residences Athens, The Ilisian and Waldorf Astoria Athens, The Ilisian.
The combined hotel and residential complex will also feature the largest swimming pool landscape in Athens, rooftop gardens and outdoor sports areas.
Opposite The Ilisian, there will be 10 bars, restaurants and lounges, including a modern take on the Hilton Athens’ iconic Galaxy Bar, called The Galaxy Dispensary, and The Galaxy Supper Club, located on the first floor. tallest. There will also be a new spin on popular Athens restaurant The Byzantino, serving a menu of Greek-French fusion dishes; a Japanese restaurant; lounge bar; poolside restaurant and bar; and more.

Within the multi-brand property’s wellness areas, there will be handball courts, jogging tracks, specialized training rooms, wellness clinics and a spa offering acupuncture treatments resort to cosmetic treatment.
As a full-service community concept, it will even include a retail complex, with the centerpiece being a curated concept store offering fashion, art and design, including Luxury products are not yet available domestically.
During the renovation and construction of The Ilisian, public art installations will be displayed around the building. These will highlight the building’s historic past, local street art and works by emerging Greek artists, among other things.
At the launch event of The Ilisan, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized that the property will connect Athens’ past with its hopeful future, adding: “Its modern operation a will once again become part of the new image of a country with new and great horizons.”
