More details on Florida man and his allegations

According to WESH, a 31-year-old man named Brandon Gilmore was arrested on Saturday, July 6. Gilmore is now facing charges of “aggravated child abuse.”

Additionally, Gilmore is reportedly being held in the Volusia County Jail, according to Fox 35 Orlando. The outlet added that the 31-year-old is being held without bail.

Here’s What Allegedly Happened to Brandon Gilmore and The Child

WESH reported that the incident happened on Saturday. Gilmore reportedly met the toddler’s mother — who has not been publicly identified — at a resort in Daytona Beach. Fox 35 Orlando added that the resort was called Sandals Inn.

At around 8pm, Gilmore allegedly told the child’s mother that he was going to take the child outside to play and “scare him a little bit”.

Gilmore reportedly hung the child from the balcony by his feet. Witnesses said the 31-year-old then dropped the four-year-old head first.

The child reportedly fell from the second floor to the ground. Fox 35 Orlando reported that police later reviewed security footage of the incident and shared a description of what happened in an arrest affidavit.

“Officers observed (Gilmore) carrying the child out of the hotel room in a normal manner, holding the child in his arms. Officers observed (Gilmore) carrying the child to the balcony and holding the child by one leg, with the child’s head facing the ground, then proceeding to drop the child from the second floor balcony,” the arrest affidavit allegedly reads.

The paper added that both Gilmore and the child’s mother had been drinking before the incident. WESH added that the four-year-old was taken to hospital in a trauma-alert condition. The child is said to have suffered “severe and serious internal injuries”, including “blunt force trauma to the head”.

The child’s current condition is unclear, WESH reported. However, the Department of Children and Families has been notified of the incident.

Another shocking incident recently occurred involving children in Florida.

The incident involving Gilmore and the four-year-old is not the first shocking incident to occur in the past month. As The Shade Room previously reported, in June, a 27-year-old woman was also arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse and domestic violence after running over her boyfriend and a 16-month-old infant.

Aaliyah Ross allegedly did this after an argument with her boyfriend. The woman reportedly told police that she had acted like she was going to run over her boyfriend on “many” previous occasions. However, this time, she thought “he would get out of the way.”

At the time, ABC7 WWSB reported that Ross’ boyfriend suffered bruises “to his body and lungs.” Meanwhile, the newborn remains hospitalized after suffering “a fractured left collarbone, multiple broken ribs, a partially collapsed lung, and numerous abrasions and bruises to his body.”

While the investigation is said to be ongoing, the news agency also reported that the Department of Children and Families has gotten involved.
