Guardians’ readers are the most incredible on the planet, new data shows – are you interested in that?

NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT

Latest Poppycock from Guardian:

The next pandemic may not come from bats or birds but from material in melting ice, according to new data.

Genetic analysis of soil and lake sediments from Lake Hazen, the largest high-altitude Arctic freshwater lake in the world, suggests the risk of virus spread – where the virus first infects a new host – may be high. closer to melting glaciers.

The findings imply that as global temperatures increase due to climate change, it is more likely that viruses and bacteria trapped in glaciers and permafrost could regenerate and infect local wildlife direction, especially as their ranges also shift closer to the poles.

For example, in 2016 a Anthrax outbreak in northern Siberia killed a child and infected at least seven others believed to have been caused by a heat wave that melted the permafrost and contact with an infected reindeer carcass. Before that, the last outbreak in the region was in 1941.

So the Guardian is saying that there used to be life where there is now ice? Perhaps as recently as 1941?

In fact, factual research doesn’t support the Guardian’s latest silly scare story. Based on WikipediaLake Hazen is not a melting glacier.

The area around the lake is a thermal oasis in the polar desert, with summer temperatures reaching up to 20 °C (68 °F). The lake itself is covered with ice about ten months a year.

And according to the study’s author, Arwyn Edwards:

For all we know, it [the potential for host switching identified in Lake Hazen] could be like the potential for viral host switching from the mud in your local pond,”

Before she adds cash flow:

“We really urgently need to explore the microbial world across our planet to understand these risks in context.”

Without a doubt, it will keep gullible Guardian readers awake at night!
