Green European nations are activating emergency fuel allocation plans – Is it working?

Energy analysts and government officials have warned that Europe may soon face a division of diesel and natural gas.

European countries are facing the possibility of fragmented energy supplies, as a dispute between Moscow and the West over payments for Russian exports flares up.

European countries rely heavily on Russian oil and gas supplies, but Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in late February saw the EU and UK impose a range of sanctions including cut Russian energy imports.

Germany warning on wednesday that it may soon face a natural gas emergency that may require rationing of the gas supply. German Economy Minister Robert Habeck said the “early warning” measure did not mean the country had to use gas sparingly, but rather urged consumers and companies to reduce energy consumption.

Meanwhile, the Austrian government announced on Wednesday that it has activated the first step of a three-phase emergency plan to monitor the country’s gas market more closely. Officials cited the need for payments in Russian rubles as the reason for activating the contingency plan, noting that should it reach the third phase of the plan, emergency control measures such as the division of exports section may take effect.

Putin said last week that Kremlin will require payment in rubles for gas sales from “unfriendly” countries – a request that was denied by the G-7 countries. On Thursday, The Russian leader said he signed a decree said foreign buyers must pay in rubles for Russian gas from April 1.

Allocate diesel engine

Meanwhile, Jim Watson, a professor of energy policy and director of the UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources, said it was “certainly possible” The UK could see the government imposing fuel rationing on cars.

Rory Stewart, former UK Secretary for International Development and Senior Fellow at Yale’s Jackson Institute, said in a tweet earlier this month that it was possible to cut the income Russia receives from oil exports by focusing on reducing demand.

It’s impossible to impose meaningful sanctions on a country that has something you need, and can’t live without.

But it just takes 3-5 days to put a well into production. Obviously it could take more time to carry out detailed surveys and drill test wells and assemble skilled people and equipment, but some of these surveys have been done, at least. especially in the early stages.

Great Britain has productive shale gas well in Lancashire, very close to where the pensioners live at the top, until they decide to close them all down. British Government at the beginning of February it was decided to force the closure of productive production wells and sealed them with concrete, against the wishes of the site owner.

The point is that there is clear evidence Europe can produce significant amounts of its own gas, using the fracking process. Europe can at least try to get this gas into production, in time for next winter.

But European leaders, including British leaders, still refuse to take clear defensive measures against the real shortfalls their people may face this winter. By their actions, they would rather have their own people freeze to death than admit Trump was right in cracking the code. They would rather impose rations, hardship and suffering on ordinary Europeans, than admit the defeat of their absurd green energy fantasies.
