Great Lady M. Stakes Heads LA County Fair Meet in Los Al
Three shares—including a classified event—worth $425,000 highlight the Los Angeles County Fair meeting at Los Alamitos. The nine-day season is scheduled to begin Friday, June 23, and continue through Sunday, July 9.
The race will be conducted on Friday-Sunday of the opening week (June 23-25), Saturday-Tuesday (1-4 July) in the middle week, and Saturday-Sunday (June 8-8) July 9) on the last weekend. Posting time will be 1pm
The richest event is the Great Lady M. 2nd place, guaranteed $200,000. Bets on fillets & mares are at 6 1/2 feathers. Captured by Becca Taylor, a hybrid of Nick Alexander in 2022, the Great Lady M. will go on sale on Tuesday, July 4.
The other seven winners of the Great Lady M. at Los Alamitos are doinghardtimeagain (2014), Fantastic Style (2015), Eclipse Finest City (2016), Skye Diamonds (2017), Marley’s Freedom (2018-2019), Sneaking Out (2020) and Video Games (2021).
The $125,000 guaranteed Los Alamitos Derby will take place on July 8. Last year, High Connection gave Hall of Fame coach Bob Baffert his sixth straight win in the 1/. 8 miles.
Before High Connection, the Derby was won against Shared Belief (2014), Gimme Da Lute (2015), Accelerate (2016), the last 3-year-old champion was West Coast (2017), Once On Whiskey (2018), Game Winner (2019), Uncle Chuck (2020) and Classier (2021).
Other stakes on the schedule are a guaranteed $100,000 Bertrando for children 3 years of age or older who were bred or bred in California. The one-mile race, which honors the classified multiple-stakes winner and the older 1993 men’s champion, will take place on June 24.
