Gordon Ramsay suffered severe bruises from a bicycle accident

Gordon Ramsay didn’t let a scary bike accident and deep, severe bruises stop him from filming. Days after the helmet “saved” his life, the world-famous chef shared a video message from one of his cooking shows.

He takes the importance of safety while cycling very seriously and expressed gratitude that his accident was not more serious. To convey his message, the ‘Master Chef’ creator lifted his apron to reveal purple skin around his ribcage and side.

Here’s why Gordon Ramsay looks like “a purple potato”

As mentioned, Gordon revealed his bike accident on Instagram on Saturday (June 15). He started the video by introducing himself, while one of his hands shook violently. That’s the same word Ramsay used to explain how what happened last week made him feel.

“…it really shook me,” he said. “I’m so lucky to be here.”

Gordon credited the “amazing” doctors and surgeons who treated his injuries at Lawerence + Memorial Hospital in New London, Connecticut. He also explains why cyclists, including children, should wear “helmets” regardless of the distance of their journey or the cost of safety gear.

“I’m so hurt, this has been a brutal week,” Gordon shared, while repeating his good fortune.

His face and arms looked fine, but when he lifted his shirt, the bruises seemed to cover one side of his chest, his stomach, and one side of his back.

His carousel post also included a photo of his helmet, which appeared to be severely scratched and burned from the impact. The yellow shirt worn by the cycling enthusiast was also clearly torn.

The Michelin star chef said: “I’m fine and don’t have any broken bones or major injuries but I’m a bit bruised and look like a purple potato.”

Gordon included a Father’s Day message in a post about bike accidents

Gordon Ramsay also took the opportunity to highlight Father’s Day while updating his 17.4 million followers on his accident. His caption recounted the incident and provided an update on his health ahead of the national celebration.

“…I am so grateful for the helmet that saved my life. Wishing you a wonderful Father’s Day and stay safe,” he wrote.

Luckily, it seems the chef’s injury hasn’t stopped him from working. As for Father’s Day, Gordon is lucky enough to celebrate six times.

PEOPLE reports that he and wife Tana welcomed their first child, Megan, in 1998. They were followed by twin daughters Holly Anna and Jack Scott, daughter Matilda (also known as Tilly) , son Oscar and son Jeese, arriving in 2023.

Gordon Ramsey and Tana also reportedly had a miscarriage in 2016 before giving birth to Oscar.
