On Thursday, Google announced that it’s adding a collection of plug-and-play integrations to Chrome with popular IT security tools. This will make it easier for IT teams to keep employees safe – on Chrome browsers and using Chrome OS devices – with the security products they already use.
The new Chrome Enterprise connector framework now includes tools in several different categories: With integrations for user identity and access, integrations for endpoint management, and integrations for reporting and information. security details.
The Connector Framework is part of a larger effort by Google to promote distrust security model:
- For User Identity and Access: Netskope Security Cloud integration optimizes user access to critical data based on user, device, and requested user verification. Okta Identity Engine for Chrome OS policy support provides authentication controls.
- To manage mobile and desktop endpoints: features new BlackBerry UEM and Samsung Knox Manage integrations. In addition to these two new integrations, VMware Workspace ONE will update its existing integration to the new Chrome Policy API and will soon be available through Google’s Trusted Tester Program.
- For security and reporting details: with new Splunk Cloud Platform integration. Palo Alto Networks and Crowdstrike integrations will be made available through the Trusted Tester Program soon.
Google is also making it easier to find these integrations with the new Security & Trust category in Recommended Chrome Enterprise.
Meanwhile, to keep sensitive data from leaking or being stolen from devices, Google is introducing Chrome OS’s Data Control feature for IT admins. They will be able to define rules that are triggered by certain actions that can lead to data loss, such as copy and paste, screen capture or print.
