Golden Eagle Returns: Moto Morini wants to return to America

New Moto Morini 650cc
Moto Morini has dates back to 1937, but these new bikes don’t look like your dad’s Golden Eagle. The Italian company’s motorcycles have found their way around the world, however now under new ownership (again) the brand is looking to distribute a line of 650cc twin cylinder motorcycles for the price. new affordable.

Alfonso Morini started by building buggy motorcycles in Italy in the 1930s. They were made at the time because you didn’t need a driver’s license to operate them, they were cheaper than cars and taxed. at a lower level. However, after the war, the company switched to producing 125cc two-stroke motorcycles, which quickly led to 125cc four-stroke bikes that even won the 1951 grand prize at Monza, and people screaming 175cc.

However, Moto Morini is an innovator. The brand became famous thanks to V-twin 3 bike and its 500 cc enduro bikes from the 1970s, as well as being the first to incorporate a six-speed transmission. However, in the late 1980s, the brand stagnated and was acquired by the brand-happy Cagiva brand, which also acquired Husqvarna, Ducati and MV Agusta. Although Moto Morini tried again in the early 2000s with some high performance bikes like Corsaro and 9 ½, the new company cannot survive.

In 2018, the company became part of Zhongneng Vehicle Group. Znen, as it is commonly called, has produced 50cc and 150cc scooters that are almost copies of Vespa scooters, quads and inexpensive electric scooters. But Znen has ambitions to make the Moto Morini relevant again, especially in the US, where the company recently announced it will be opening a dealer network.

Today, the reincarnated Moto Morini has created two bikes, a classic naked bike appropriately called the Seiemmezzo, or “six and a half” and the X-Cape, an adventure bike. Seiemmezzo, stylized with the letter M, available in STR or street style colors and SCR or disturbance person, style. It has the same parallel engine that CF Moto uses on its new 650cc bikes.

The X-Cape has the same 650cc engine with the same diameter and stroke. However, it can be equipped with Marzocchi forks, Brembo brakes and heated grips. It’s also available in an aluminum case, trunk, and off-road accessories like engine and hand guards.

Eventually, the brand will import a twin 750cc V with 97hp, but there’s no word on if the massive 1187cc and 998cc V-twins from 20 years ago will make a return.
