The 2023 Godolphin Flying Start Graduation Ceremony took place at the Cape Cross Center in Kildangan Stud, Ireland on the afternoon of June 16. Guests included parents of the graduating class, the Godolphin manager and representatives of the Business School. University College Dublin Michael Smurfit, who supported Flying Start students during their two years in the program.
Godolphin Flying Start CEO, Mr. Clodagh Kavanagh, warmly welcomed the guests and families of practitioners from as far away as the US, New Zealand, and Australia. She talked about the inspiration for the program from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed and the impact the experience had on the students’ personal and professional lives.
The Godolphin Flying Start is recognized by the University of Dublin’s Michael Smurfit Business School as a Postgraduate Certificate in Management. On behalf of the University, Entrepreneurship Professor Raomal Perera addressed the guests and highlighted UCD’s academic oversight and the success of the program’s graduates to date.
Joe Osborne, managing director of Godolphin Ireland and Godolphin Flying Start Trustee, added heavily to the class of 2023 and added: “On behalf of the global Godolphin team, I congratulate this graduating class and wish the class well their success as well as encouragement for their future in the purebred industry.”
The 2023 graduates include interns from six countries, including Elinor Wolf (US), James Keane (IRE), Christopher Moore (UK), Jessica Daw (UK), Taylor Owens (US) , Margaux Herinckx (UK), Shea Connolly (IRE), Lachlan Pethica (AUS), Charlie King (NZ), Vinzenz Schiergen (GER), Marcus Bird (UK) and Henry Morshead (UK).
The diploma for the best student was awarded to Lachlan Pethica (AUS), the top scorer of the 2023 graduating group, winning the Excellence award.
Shea Connolly and Lachlan Pethica spoke on behalf of the class about their two-year experience with their classmates. They thanked the guests, manager Godolphin Flying Start and HH Sheikh Mohammed.
