GM on Friday released range estimates for Pickup GMC Hummer EV 2023 And SUV GMC Hummer EV 2024including both body styles of loaded 3X trim.
The company is now suggesting that one of its so-called supertruck models can go 355 miles on a single charge. If anything, it’s a testament to how much influence tires have on the EV range.
With the 3X’s 22-inch wheels and 35-inch All-Terrain tires, it’s a bit more road-friendly and a better choice for those who rarely plan to take advantage of this model’s off-road capabilities. That helps reach GM’s estimate of 355 miles per charge of the massive 205 kWh battery pack, which weighs just under 3,000 pounds.

Meanwhile, when equipped with the Extreme Off-Road Package – which brings the Edition 1’s 18-inch wheels with 35-inch Off-Road tires, both models retain estimated 329 miles of version 1.
GM notes that it is continuing the launch version of the Hummer EV Pickup Truck (formerly known as SUT), while the 3X will allow for more customization.
The SUV, with its slightly smaller 170 kWh battery pack, reaches 314 miles in the launch Edition Edition 1, or in 3X SUV form, both with standard 22-inch wheels. Both models are estimated at 298 miles with the Extreme Off-Road Package, riding on 18-inch wheels with 35-inch Mud-Terrain tires.

With a weight limit of more than 9,000 pounds, the Hummer EV Pickup does not qualify as a passenger vehicle or light truck, so EPA testing is not applicable on any official basis and results cannot be compared. Compare with other models with official EPA rated range. For instance, it wasn’t conceived for vehicles of this weight — or for large HD pickups. The EPA light-duty emissions limit (and range test) applied is a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 10,000 pounds, and the GMC Hummer EV Pickup Picks it up at 10,660 pounds.
GM also said Hummer EV is not a light truck in Version 1 or 3X guise, but it will be one of the next guises that can now be pushed back to the 2025 model year or later. GM sent EPA test papers to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) with that in mind.
With such a large two-stage battery pack that can be connected in parallel for a quick 800-volt charge, the battery capacity numbers also get a bit trickier. GMC clarified to Green Car Reports that the maximum battery level of the Hummer EV Pickup Truck is 205 kwh based on IEC standards or 213 kwh based on ISO standards. For the EV SUV, the company only offers 170 kWh based on the lower IEC standard.

The EV Pickup with that larger package can go 100 miles in just 10 minutes with a 350 kw CCS DC fast charger and the EV SUV can go 100 miles in 14 minutes. Both versions of the GMC Hummer EV 2024 have vehicle-to-load power generation via GMC’s Power Station generator—allowing it to to charge other EVs at 6 kwor provide output up to 25 amps at 120 volts or 240 volts.
