Confirm a previous report, Genesis confirm it is growing mixture technology that the company plans to roll out across its entire lineup. The brand initially pivoted away from gasoline-electric powertrains to focus on electric vehicles, but it realized that its target audience was more open to hybrids than electric vehicles.

While not official, the report does shed some light on what the first Genesis hybrid could be powered by. Development is said to have begun in 2023, and the system is said to be built around a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It’s likely not a plug-in system; instead, it could be a 48-volt mild-hybrid setup or a standard hybrid powertrain. It’s too early to say whether Genesis will eventually offer different hybrid systems.
Genesis could launch its first hybrid model in 2025, so a 2026 model is likely. If that’s accurate, it would mean the Hyundai-owned company plans to launch exclusively tram starting from 2025 has changed.
