Genesis adds tech, fixes key safety feature with Australian software update

Genesis owners can finally enjoy wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in Australia.

The luxury car brand has followed the lead of parent company Hyundai in adding the technology to cars equipped with factory-installed satellite navigation systems.

Rather than withholding the technology for new car owners, the software update will be offered to cars launched since 2018.

Owners of vehicles with a USB port or SD card slot can download the update and install it themselves; Genesis is also confirming whether the update will be available as an over-the-air update on vehicles that support remote software updates.

Like Hyundai, this technology also makes it easy for car owners to turn off the annoying speed limit warning system that beeps and chimes when you exceed the speed limit.

Instead of having to repeatedly tap buttons on the steering wheel and touchscreen, the system can now be turned off by holding down the mute button on the steering wheel – or using a prompt on the voice control system. However, Genesis is in the process of confirming which cars will have the feature.

The update will bring a variety of detail changes depending on when your vehicle was manufactured; a list of vehicles included in the update is outlined below.

Some vehicles are listed multiple times due to constant technology updates and the complexity of changing production years.
