Gabby Petito’s mother forgave her daughter’s killer but beat his mother

Gabby’s mother forgives her daughter’s killer

As The Shade Room previously reported, Brian Laundrie tragically killed his fiancee, Gabby Petito while they were traveling together. Searchers found Gabby’s remains on September 19, 2021.

Gabby’s mother, Nichole, appeared at CrimeCon 2024 in Nashville on Friday (May 31). PEOPLE reported that she spoke candidly about Gabby and ended up sharing a few messages to Brian Laundrie and his mother Roberta. She told the crowd that she had forgiven Laundrie and refused to let his terrible actions control her life.

“I told myself when I said it Brian, I forgive you. I needed to free myself from the chains of anger and bitterness. And I refuse to let your vile actions define the rest of my life,” Schmidt declared.

Schmidt made sure to call Laundrie’s parents, Roberta and Christopher Laundrie, while attending the conference. After Gabby’s untimely death, her mother always believed that they were trying to come up with an escape plan for Brian.

“As for you, Roberta – I single you out because you are clearly the mastermind who has destroyed your family and your mind with your evil ways – I don’t see any sympathy in your eyes, there is no remorse in your heart and no willingness to take responsibility for those things. your actions,” Nichole Schmidt explains.

Nichole continues to criticize Roberta as a murderer and says she does not deserve forgiveness for the accusations of contributing to her daughter’s death.

“You are darkness. You are the murderer everyone fears. Someone who looks innocent and kind but hides darkness in your soul. You don’t deserve forgiveness. You deserve to be forgotten and dehumanized. You are the epitome of pure evil,” Nicole said.

Nichole also told the CrimeCon crowd that she never had the chance to face Brian Laundrie in court. Laundrie passed away in November 2021, just two months after Gabby’s death by suicide.

Gabby’s parents were awarded in a wrongful death lawsuit

In November 2022, Gabby Petito’s parents were awarded $3 million from Brian Laundrie’s estate. According to RadarOnline, Gabby’s family received the payment several months after filing a wrongful death lawsuit against Brian’s family. The final $3 million judgment came a year after Gabby’s remains were found in the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming.

According to The Shade Room, after the announcement of the final verdict, journalist Brian Entin announced that any proceeds from Laundrie’s estate would go to a fund established in Gabby’s name,
