All it takes is one punch. It’s something that battle fans are told over and over again. It has also been proven many times. However, on Saturday at Wembley Stadium, Tyson Fury made it clear how true that old adage really is. Fury uppercut’s absolute atomic bomb placed his game challenger, Dillian Whyte, in front of an audience of nearly a hundred thousand – and who knows how many people watch TV and stream. Without a doubt, it was an outstanding punch, one that will most likely be remembered for a long time.

As Fury advanced towards the ring on the throne just minutes before, he gestured loudly and physically to the huge crowd, one has to wonder exactly why Whyte was able to fight like that… .ENERGY . The truth is, Whyte didn’t let his best moment. The man fought hard. Too hard. However, after the first round, it became clear that Fury’s size was a real issue for the veteran challenger.

Whyte tried to make things ugly at school, with elbow kicks and a few blows to the back of the head. It does not matter. In season five, Fury caught him with that howitzer, and that was it. Lying on his back, it looks like Whyte might not be able to beat the count. Somehow, he did, but then tripped when the referee checked if he could continue. The referee then waved his hand, prompting Fury and the 94,000 spectators to explode in celebration.

“I dedicate this to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” Fury said afterward. “We are Spartans!” he then shouted to the crowd’s explosive approval. It’s not that Fury doesn’t have anything but kind words for his opponent. “Dillian Whyte is a fighter,” he admitted bluntly. As for Fury, the reason for Whyte’s defeat was simple: “He’s a great fighter, but he fought a legend here tonight.” However, Fury said his wife wanted him to quit after his third fight with Deontay Wilder, but fighting in London was simply too golden an proposition. “I had to be my man,” Fury said of now retiring from boxing, “and I think this is it.”

However, Fury put a cherry on the evening sundae when he named UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. Then both men indicate that they will square each other in the future. “It will be a mixed fight, with different kinds of rules,” Ngannou said. A crazy lucrative concept, no doubt. When it comes to Fury, however, one really never knows what the future holds.
