Like many Asian children, I grew up with doraemon and both my parents are huge fans of the franchise. That does not mean I already, but playing Doraemon Story of Seasons; Friends of the Great Kingdom makes me see what has captivated them for nearly three decades. Lots of charm of Doraemon — the characters and the worldview — is here, and it coexists perfectly with the laid-back nature of farming sims. It is also very accessible, even for players with the most basic knowledge of doraemon Franchising.
the story of Doraemon Story of Seasons: Friends of the Great Kingdom is very simple. It focuses on Noby, friends of Noby and Doraemon after they land on Illuma, an Earth-like planet. There, they meet a boy named Lumis and promise to help him revive the farm he loves. This turned out to be a much more important task than they initially thought. Queen Illuma confiscates their spaceship, and they decide the best way to get it back is to show her that they are trustworthy aliens. To do so, they must help around town in addition to managing the farm.

Next to doraemon character, this feeling is like most Seasonal story Game. You split your time between connecting with the townspeople and maintaining your farm. There’s a lot of freedom in how you can spend your day beyond those two tasks. I mainly fish, because it doesn’t use up all my stamina. not normal Seasonal story game, you can unlock Doraemon’s gadgets to make life easier. One gadget allows you to move around trees or crops, while another greatly increases your speed. While they are useful, players who want a more “traditional” experience can also skip them. They are simply a decoration for the game, not an important component.

A lot of the townspeople have very likable personalities, with lots of positive and negative quirks. It makes it easy to like them and be interested in their individual subplots. For example, I was very interested in the story of Kai and Ori. Ori’s mother had to stay at the clinic because of illness, while his father was too busy to spend much time with him. However, don’t expect too much nuance or lots of heavy twists. Considering this is a doraemon game, it’s not too surprising that the game will feel like it’s intended for a younger audience.
While the characters are one of the game’s strong points, they really act like a double-edged sword. It’s incredibly easy to increase friendship points with people without giving them anything. This will then unlock the sequel to their story. You can enter an area for completely innocuous reasons, but the game will then suck you into a cutscene, forcing you to pause whatever quest you’re dealing with. If the cutscene takes Noby to another part of Illuma, you’ll find yourself there after the scene ends, which means you’ll have to go back. As a result, the pacing in the game, especially the earlier installments, feels extremely slow.

It’s one thing if the cutscene is really important or interesting. However, a lot of friendship events are short-lived, and some of them, especially Pip’s, feel unimportant. Leif and Luana’s story also feels pretty weak. Some problems seem to have really easy solutions. For example, diners’ stories are about how different races have different tastes, and that’s what causes conflict for them. For some reason, they don’t like the idea of just having an extensive menu and insist on making a fusion dish. If you just want to focus on farming, you can avoid talking to people, but that takes away much of the game’s appeal. It will also take you too long.

In addition to these grievances, Doraemon Story of Seasons: Friends of the Great Kingdom It is a very fun and relaxing game. If I had played it without a deadline, the interrupted cutscene probably wouldn’t have been such a big deal. The storybook aesthetic is eye-catching and some of the locations – especially the Observatory – are breathtakingly beautiful. Leave the nap to Noby; This is a farm sim that enthusiasts of the genre absolutely cannot sleep in.
