I’m definitely a city girl, but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate something as bad as a formula 1 car made entirely from tractor parts.
This chimera of epic proportions comes from the tractor manufacturer Minsk Tractor Factory in Belarus. The company calls it MTZ 50 Formula 1, according to automatic, and it sounds fun as hell. I bet it would sound like a bear trying to swallow some angry cats on the track. But alas, even though Belarusian dictator Alexander Loukachenko claims he drove it at nearly 200 miles per hour, it seems the MTZ 50 is just a show car, Minsk Tractor Factory confirmed via Facebook. (I know, I’m surprised Loukachenko will also lie about something.)
That sucks, because the MTZ 50 has something very solid about it. All the parts on this F1 show car are taken directly from the actual factory production line, which makes its close proximity to open-wheel racing cars even more astounding. more surprised. The Minsk Tractor Factory uses almost nothing but tractor parts and, while F1 cars may be nice and fast, this is a machine that looks like it has to work for a living. MTZ 50 was first shown in 2019 at an agricultural trade show called Belagro 2019but it’s coming back on the internet.
The company also builds a motorcycle entirely from tractor parts, although the vehicle is clearly just for fun:
It will definitely make an interesting twist for Netflix Shows Formula 1: Drive to survive if it gives it a more rural, old Soviet block feel. Imagine Max Verstappen feeding ducks and then rushing out to harvest wheat faster than Sergio Perez. The yards are just the actual fields where horses roam. All pit teams can wear overalls and felts, and instead of crazy parties, drivers will have to go to bed by 8 p.m. so they can wake up and do all the work the next day.
