Former NXT UK Champion, Toni Storm is no longer in WWE

Just a few months after joining the main WWE roster, Toni Storm is no longer employed by the company.

Fight and PWINsider reported Wednesday that Storm has parted ways with WWE. Storm is said to have requested her release and is not one of many wrestlers released this year because of supposed budget cuts.

On Christmas Eve, Storm unsuccessfully challenged Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. It was her last appearance with the company. She worked on live events last weekend in Orlando, Fla. And Washington, DC, faces Flair and Sasha Banks in triple-threat matches.

Storm joined WWE in 2017, competing in the Mae Young Classic. While losing in the semifinals, Storm went on to receive a WWE contract in 2018. At WWE Evolution, she defeated Io Shirai to win the 2018 Mae Young Classic Championship.

The 26-year-old then joined the UK brand NXT, becoming the NXT UK Women’s Champion. In 2020, Storm was used in NXT programming and participated in various feuds leading up to the Survivor Series. She joined the main roster in July and participated in matches against Flair and Zelina Vega.

Storm recently talked about her status on the main list above Ryan Satin’s “Out of Character” audio file. She went into detail about how uncertainty can happen in professional wrestling.

“It’s the worst because you don’t know,” Storm said (via SES Scoops). “Obviously wrestling [can be] unpredictable. Next week you can go to the main event and win the title and anything may or may not happen. You do not know. This is the business program at the end of the day. It’s a chaotic industry.

“When you’re sitting in the catering, it’s not a good feeling. You just sit there, waiting for your turn to shoot, waiting for your big breakthrough, waiting to show everyone you’ve worked. good in my life I just sat there [asking], ‘When am I next? What’s happening? ‘ Now, [when] things started to happen, I kept saying, ‘What’s going on? Oh my God. What is my life? ‘”

Before joining WWE, Storm wrestled around the world. She is a former SWA and World of Stardom World Champion, winning the 2017 Cinderella Tournament. Storm is also a former Australian Progressive and IPW Women’s Champion.

Famous in the indie arena for her lengthy title reign, it remains unknown where Storm will go next following her run with WWE.
