Forget hardware, Google wants user data, Pixelbook laptops to Pixel phones

Right, Google manufactures hardware, and we’ve seen them in the form of Pixelbooks, Pixel phones, or even Chromebooks, but hardware isn’t the focus of the big profit picture Google is really painting. For Google, it’s not tool the important thing is that its user data and software work well even when other hardware companies work hard or make and sell their products that Goggle software is using. They also take risks creating products that may or may not sell, but that’s something Google doesn’t need to worry about.

What Google is doing in making hardware is testing the waters with its software, and maybe even gently nudging manufacturers down the path they should be. Then Google sits back and collects user data that runs through its software on other companies’ hardware- phones for computers and more.

Providing an example is Android Central. Take, for example, what happened with the Pixelbook. Google has simply canceled the line! Now, fans of the product aren’t very pleased, but for Google, it all makes perfect sense. After showing other companies the product’s capabilities, Google withdrew and other companies produced laptophas taken over.

In that respect, Google is like Microsoft more than Apple simply because it creates software for Everyone to include in their product while the latter builds the product and also edits the software for them.

Yes, both Google and Microsoft also produce products as mentioned earlier, but the purpose is completely different. Google creates products to test and improve its software to the greatest extent possible. Through these products, Google tries “specialized hardware configurations”, such as Android Center said, to improve its other business activities. That’s why Google has a long list of products that Google makes, including camera, WIFI routers and more.

The end result is always the desire to collect more and more user data even though that data may be lost money on these hardware products. And user data is where Google really makes money.

“I think their ultimate aim might be user information obtained through the use of the device rather than generating revenue through the sale of the device,” said Sujeong Lim, a research analyst at Counterpoint Research said.

In fact, it’s a win-win situation for everyone involved, from the company to the users themselves – as long as they don’t see their privacy being taken advantage of.

And this strategy can also be implemented in the Pixel Watch. Once other smartwatch makers get up and running with similar products, Google is likely to back down after hitting its target. and if the product fails, it simply stops producing them.

One thing is clear, however, that if Google can get everything it wants from other companies’ hardware, it most likely won’t be in the manufacturing business. Since it can’t, it has to do it.

So giving up its hardware to Google is just part of its business to improve its bottom line.
