Ford is discounting select 2024 F-150 Lightning electric pickup trucks by up to $5,500, CarsDirect reportciting a newsletter sent by Ford to dealers.
Effective April 5, the XLT Standard Range gets a $2,000 price cut, bringing the base price down to $65,090 with a mandatory destination charge of $2,095. The Lariat Extended Range is discounted by $2,500, down to $79,090 with destination.

The Flash Extended Range— a new model for 2024 positioned between the XLT and Lariat — gets the biggest price cut of $5,500, meaning it now starts at $70,090 including destination. Pricing for the base Pro Standard Range and top-of-the-line Platinum Extended Range remains unchanged at $57,090 and $87,090 respectively, again including destination charges. CarsDirect notes that models with an MSRP under $80,000 are also eligible for a $7,500 federal electric vehicle tax credit.
This appears to be a reversal for Ford, which has resisted cutting Lightning prices across product lines despite fluctuating demand. In January, the car company reduced the prices of the top-end versions but added thousands to MSRP of the rest of the lineup.

In December, when it became clear that prices were slowing Lightning demand, Ford decided to slow down production instead of reducing truck prices. That is one of the initial signals that Ford does not have the goal of accelerating electric vehicle production as urgently as previously indicated.
However, it’s clear that the lower price Ford set for remaining 2023 Mustang Mach-E stocks has sparked some spark in sales of that model. Ford on Tuesday confirmed that it is holding 2024 Mustang Mach-E Price near those prices. It’s possible that such a price adjustment for Lightning would have a similar effect.
