Ford just brought the F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck closer to its original promised starting price.
On Monday, Ford dropped the price of the F-150 Lightning to $9,979 on the base Pro model. It currently costs $51,990, including a $1,995 destination fee. The price correction marks the first price drop after four price increases since the launch of Lightning in April 2022.
That leaves it just 25% above the base price of the electric truck at launch, when it cost $41,669 — compared with a recent increase of nearly 50%.
Ford Model E spokesman Marty Günsberg told Green Car Reports that any Lightning that is currently on order, scheduled for production or scheduled for delivery will receive a discount effective today.
According to Günsberg, the base Lightning Pro model has already been sold out to retail customers for the 2023 model year.
The XLT models are discounted by $9,479 and are currently priced at $56,990 with Standard Range batteries. Choosing a larger Extended Range battery pack adds $15,000.
The Lariat models are $6,979 off and currently priced at $71,990 for the Standard Range van while the Extended Range Lariat is currently $79,490.
The top Platinum Extended Range models are $6,079 off and priced at $93,990.
