Ford Bronco Sport Sasquatch remains uncouth forbidden fruit for Australia

Upgraded Ford Bronco Sport It’s been given an even more powerful makeover in the US, but this soft-roader remains out of reach for Australian buyers.

Ford has repeatedly said that Bronco Sports – based on Escape SUV was eliminated locally last year – left-hand drive only, as is the case with compact cars The eccentric ute. That position remains unchanged with this latest revelation.

What about Sasquatch? It follows in the footsteps of Full-size Bronco Sasquatch with the add-on “is for car owners who take their cars to wilder places than the local coffee shop, mall, and even remote outdoor recreation spots.”

The Sasquatch package is offered on the Bronco Sport Outer Banks with the 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine and on the Badlands with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine; on the pre-facelift Bronco, the package was exclusive to the Badlands.

Under the skin, the Sasquatch is equipped with a rugged dual-clutch rear-wheel drive system and a locking rear differential.

The Bilstein rear shock is capable of handling bigger hits at higher speeds, and the travel has been increased by 10mm with a new spring. The new setup offers 15mm more suspension travel than the Badlands.

The car is equipped with 17-inch wheels, 29-inch Goodyear Territory All Terrain tires, and the electronic drive mode selector has integrated a new Rally GOAT mode – yes, that’s Goes Over All Terrain instead of Greatest Of All Time.

It is designed to provide more confidence at high speeds on rough surfaces; increase throttle and steering speed, and force the transmission to hold gears longer.

A new one-pedal driving mode for gravel terrain has been added to the vehicle and an off-road camera version is equipped on some Ranger and Everest versions.

On the outside, you can tell the Sasquatch apart from other vehicles thanks to a new front brush guard, steel skid plate, and modular bumpers at both ends. Recovery points are easily accessible at both ends, in case you get stuck.

Ford has really put some effort into making the Bronco Sport Sasquatch easy to customize. Inside, there are removable and reattachable grab handles, a bolt-on tray on the dash for accessories, and a roof-mounted auxiliary switch.

Anyone who spends time strapping kayaks, bikes, or snowboards to the roof of their car will love the pop-out tie-down points below the rearview mirror.

The wider Bronco lineup has been upgraded to accommodate the introduction of Sasquatch.

Like the updated Maverick pickup, it gets a new 13.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto inside, along with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Power still comes from two engine options: a 1.5-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost (132kW/272Nm) and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder EcoBoost (177kW/376Nm).
