However, several of the top contenders went after this speedy pony in the Resurrection Star, potentially skipping the Louisiana Derby.

The simplification was marred by a bad start in Holy Bull and upped his game with a better ride in the Fountain of Youth. White Abarrio missed training and overcame it to win Holy Bull, and he is training quickly to lead to a fresh start as scheduled in the April 2 (G1) Florida Curlin Derby ) at Gulfstream.

After being damaged by a slow start in Holy Bull, his Fountain of Youth was eagerly anticipated and he still manages to exceed expectations. Patiently handling the first turn, he pulled Jose Ortiz into the back seat behind a horse wall before traffic cleared in front of him and he made his widest round with a successful rally. As in Fountain of Youth, he didn’t change the lead, but that didn’t stop him from achieving a 3 1/2-length victory in a race marred by two overflowing horses.

That race means a lot to this late-running pony, who gored Zandon with a clubhead at the Remsen Stakes (G2) there last fall on the same 1/8-mile ride.

Hung wide, he fought back in a backfight and in the second inning, sat in third with one-eighth remaining before finishing in fourth. His race is somewhat reminiscent of the ride Simplification took at Holy Bull — and we know how he performed with a better ride at the Fountain of Youth.

Coach Steve Asmussen has slowly stretched him out, and now a crucial two-turn challenge awaits at 1/8th mile Wood.

Running in the Fountain of Youth with a limited work tab, the race appears to be an endgame to get him ready for the Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) in a few months. He ran as if he lacked fitness, advancing on the rails down to the back of his seat before weakening to sixth place. Look for him to improve in the second prep of the year – he’ll have to move on to earn Derby qualifying points. He has shown himself to be a class of two-horse, winning the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) last fall at Keeneland.

He crossed the rope second in the Fountain of Youth, his first two-legged race, and stayed to watch the investigation after the managers failed to change the order of the finish after the two horses went down in race (thankfully no injuries). While searching for a vacancy under Paco Lopez, this pony ran into an enemy, who in turn Tall oak wood , one of the horses fell when a packed herd jostled away from the second turn. According to Trakus data, in due course, which is mostly a saver trip on the ground, is 23 feet less than the winner and 61 feet less than Emmanuel.
