Having faked his own death to protect his loved ones, Kazuma Kiryu, the once famous yakuza, now lives in the shadows.
He occasionally takes on assignments as a secret agent for the Daidoji Faction, a shady organization that used to act as a government broker. Kiryu’s existence is kept a closely guarded secret in Daidoji. There he languished every day in his self-imposed solitude. Until one day, someone came to drag Kiryu back to the world.
