Despite not officially fighting for about 5 years, Floyd Mayweather is still very interested in the current group of boxers.

During his prime, Mayweather found his name at the top of the virtually pound-for-pound list for the pound. When the newly introduced Hall of Famer looks at every weight class and every current world champion, he believes he knows who has usurped him as the best boxer in the world.

“The top boxer right now, is Terence Crawford,” Mayweather said in an interview with FightHype.com.

The 34-year-old Omaha, Nebraska, hometown appears to have sealed his board for pound status with the most important win of his career over the weekend. In front of a large crowd at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, Crawford faced off against two-time former player Shawn Porter.

With Crawford facing the toughest opponent of his career, they fought evenly throughout the first half of the competition. However, when their duel began to take place, Crawford took over the competition. In particular, in the tenth round, Crawford beat his man with a cut on the left within the first 15 seconds of the frame.

Porter, to his credit, gets up shortly after but reconnects with the scene shortly after before their contest is officially over. Given the nature of Crawford scoring his decisive win, coupled with his overall record, when Mayweather had an in-depth look at the 34-year-old, it was like he was looking into a mirror.

“He’s raw talent, boxer hell. He is a difficult mother. He reminds me of a young Floyd Mayweather, he can fight his ass.”

For Crawford, the victory over Porter represented not only the most significant of his career but also the end of an era.

For many years now, Crawford has partnered with Top Rated advertising agency and longtime advertiser Bob Arum. However, with Crawford now an ad-free agent following an injury-time win over Porter, the pound-for-pound star wasted no time in revealing his desire to move on.

“I’m pretty sure my decision has been made,” Crawford said after his win this Saturday night. “Bob can’t vouch for me [Errol] Spence fights when I’m with him, so how do I guarantee my fight with Spence when I’m not with him? I’m moving forward with my career right now and I wish everyone the best. ”

Though Crawford revealed he might know his next move, Mayweather, however, threw his recruiting hat. With years at the top of the charts for the pound list and with a career income of approximately a billion dollars, more than any other boxer in history, Mayweather is confident that under Mayweather’s banner of Promoted. himself, Crawford could reach his true potential.

“Terence Crawford doesn’t have to be under my company for me to give a guy props. If he was ever a freelance agent, I would love to work with him. If he’s free. I know what I can do to take him to the next level.”
