Five common video editing mistakes
Creating a professional, engaging video is as much an editing as it is during shooting. Editing is serious business and as such, mistakes can be easily made. This great video tutorial details five common mistakes advertisers make when editing videos and what you can do to fix or avoid them in the first place.
Coming to you from Zach Ramelan, this great video tutorial discusses five common mistakes that ads make when editing videos, and what you can do to fix them. One thing that I definitely see a lot, as Ramelan puts it, is “style over story.” These days, there’s a real pressure, especially on YouTube and social media, to create super compelling footage from a visual standpoint. This often leads to a lot of transitions, vertigo effects and the like. And while those can sometimes be moderately relevant, if they take precedence over conveying the story, your story should have no problem visually, but Yours will be confused. After all, we have a century of great movies that don’t use such effects. Check out the video above for a full rundown from Ramelan.
