FFXIV Cape Westwind Going from Challenge to Singles Match

In February 2022 FFXIV Letter from the Live Producer LXVIII, Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida has announced that Cape Westwind will go from an eight-player Experiment into a solo story case. This will be one of several changes to some of the Early Experiments.

This is what Yoshida had to talk about FFXIV The war at Cape Westwind. As a reminder, this is one of the first eight-person Challenges anyone has faced in the MMORPG. In it, one is faced with the XIV Imperial Army officer Rihtahtyn sas Arvina.

Considering Rhitahtyn is, like, the shield of the Garlean Empire… Technically, he’s not a captain? But he’s like a very prominent character. I think it would be humiliating for eight people to come in and just hit him. So we’ve actually allocated resources to rebuilding that battle so it’s a tough battle in the quest you’re in.

Yoshida also discussed some additional changes. Castrum Meridianum and Praetorium will go from a fixed eight-player dungeon to four. This means that Ultima Weapon will be a four-man battle. Lahabrea will become a permanent story quest element, much like Cape Westwind.

Final Fantasy XIV available for PS4, PS5 and PC. In addition to the trial and dungeon updates, there will be Reliable System Updates starting with patch 6.1.
